Filmstaden

Opening all titles

A hundred years of cinema, a million hands holding on to seats and each other as the lights dim. Swedish cinema giant SF was changing name to Filmstaden, this change had a thousand tiny consequences — as always in the case of a rebrand — and one major one.

The mother of entertainment motion is the opening title. We were asked to perform motion surgery on the most beloved intro of all Scandinavian movie nights, when the SF cinema classic logo tune was about to be replaced. This made for a beautiful and inspiring collaboration between sound and image, it also caused a stir, to say the least, and the result was a full transplant.

Intertwined creation was the way forward. Composer and sound designer Jacob Oldenburg and his team set out to compose the new theme, or actually three, for the public to decide in a rowdy referendum. Meanwhile, at Dallas, we fired up any and all motion design ideas and softwares to create a multilayered avant-garde pixelscape for the masses.

Research & Development

“This has been a once in a lifetime project, without an instruction manual, putting high pressure on the team. We couldn't have had a better partner than the team at Dallas and Jacob, whose enormous knowledge, passion and respect for the mission made the journey an complete honor to lead. I am very proud of the result as well as the entire process, where we didn’t make any compromises.”

Carolin Högmyr, CMO at Filmstaden
